Support definition

Support is Technical Analysis term. Support is a price level (below the current price) that many market participants do not expect the stock/index to go below. Support does not have to be exact price, it can be general price level. Support can be previous low, a price level where the stock traded for a long time in the past or a number of other things. Many market participants will buy the stock as it approaches Support.
