Downtrend definition

Downtrend is when stock or index appears to be trending lower over extended period of time. Typically downtrend is associated with lower lows, meaning that stock or index new lows are lower than previous lows. As long as lower lows are happening, the downtrend continues.

Downtrend is the opposite of uptrend.
